Dec. 4th, 2010 11:56 pmEstate sell went...pretty well. I now have a 1937 Singer sewing machine. I wasn't going to take it, because of lack of room, but I refuse to let it go to the dump. We still have an antique couch that needs to go somewhere. My cousin's mother in law has said if nothing else, it can be stored in her attic. Which is apparently as large as my house. 0_o
By the end of the day though, we were all just completely worn out. So the house hasn't really been cleaned, and I'll be going back sometime this week to do that. And by that point, I really think it was emotionally hitting us that we had no reason to go back there. My grandmother had lived in that house since the 70's. My parents and my sisters and I lived there for a few years. Valerie and I both had our bridal showers there. I have more Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter memories of being at Granny's house than anywhere else. And pretty much, we'll never be going there again.

I was able to go by 2nd & Charles and actually do something with the books we had at the house. I made about 11 dollars, which was all gone by the time I got the slip saying I had it. Evil Overlord in Training has some new books, and I got an awesome bag. My mother in law has a ton of books that she's been trying to get rid of, I think I'll be taking them by the bag full. :) (And wow, I just looked at the website, and the Hoover store is actually only the second one. BUT IT'S AWESOME. SERIOUSLY. There's a free bin outside the store. and it's not set up like your normal 2nd hand bookstore.)
After that I went to get myself a new pair of tennis shoes. By the way --- shopping on my own with the Evil Overlord in Training is freakin impossible. Took WAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy longer than it should have.
Anyway, I finally settled on a pair of ryka assist xt. It's a cross training shoe, which I have no idea what that means. I only know when I put it on, my ankle stopped hurting for the first time in days. My feet were completely in love with these shoes. I walked around the store in them, following after the EOiT, and it was almost like being barefoot -- only I wasn't having any trouble walking. Yay! This is the first time I've spent this much for me on a pair of shoes. (my converses don't count, because those were an anniversary present.) :P
okay, I just went back and added a bunch to that second paragraph, so I think I need to go do something else. no, i'm probably not dealing as well with this as i act like i am.
