Isn't she pretty?

I'm turning 29 tomorrow.

I mentioned that to J this evening, on our way to get my birthday dinner. It doesn't feel like I should be turning 29...like I somehow skipped a few years or something...I don't know. it's like 29 feels old, and I'm not old, so it's not possible that I'm turning 29.

y'all can stop laughing at me now. :P

No, seriously.

so yeah, we went out for dinner -- Mexican! Yummy mexican, got a yummy frozen margarita. Birthday liquor!

I have to explain we went out on Saturday because shelby county is dry on Sundays.

It was very yummy, and we had a good time. Even if we were sitting right next to the door and got frozen every time the door opened.

Happy birthday to me. :)

made it to South Carolina.

the plan was to go to Savannah tomorrow (today?) to see Polly, but her work schedule won't allow it. So we'll be spending the day with my parents and leaving on Monday to see Polly. Then we'll leave from Savannah to go home.

I'm exhausted. I think it's bed time.
roguewords: (dr who scary brain amerzi)
was watching the news. i should really stop doing that.

there was a story about 86 high school girls who are all pregnant in Memphis.

Instead of doing something to possibly prevent this from happening again, say...teaching these girls how to have safe sex, or ya know, anything similar, they're going to bring in Girls Inc.! to teach them about Abstinence.

Because talking to girls about how not to have sex after the fact does any fucking good.

AND while were at it, 86 girls, were all that were mentioned. Aren't there also 86 BOYS who should be held at least partially responsible?

What are they going to say to the boys at that school? Oh, that's right, girls are the only ones who are suppose to stay chaste until marriage.

STUPID DOUBLE STANDARDS.

Uuuuuggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

*****

I think I'm going to go pack now. Going to South Carolina with my sister and EOiT tomorrow for the weekend.

This. It's got a hint of Alice/Hatter, which I love. But it's not an Alice/Hatter story. What is though, is a wonderful story of how Susan helps Alice during a strange time. Definitely a must read.

so for some reason my delicious account disappeared when I didn't use it for a couple of years. Boo. But I have been using it recently, cause of not being on my own computer.

so I'm on Diigo now. username is roguewords. surprise surprise. unless fandom ends up someplace else. I've heard rumors of maybe making our own? that'd be cool.

heading to tuscaloosa tomorrow, going to meet Cash. he's my sister's new dog. and going to do some work for one of her friends. paid work. yay money.

so if anyone's on Diigo, let me know. :)

ya know, someone doesn't work tomorrow. ;)

still working on christmas thingys. not saying what, because Valerie's reading. :P

got a wonderfully beautiful card from [profile] imacartwright, and unfortunately the Evil Overlord in Training tore it up. I was sooooo pissed. but yeah. gorgeous card.

spent most of the day sleeping off a migraine, had to call J to come home early. didn't get up till 8pm. boo. day lost.

****

been reading some Doctor Who/Criminal Minds crossovers off of [community profile] who_daily. interesting stuff.

need to watch the latest Leverage. And try to catch up with Doctor Who as well. I've seen the first couple of episodes of this season, but not most of it. and I'd like to catch up before the Christmas special.

****

little boy is coughing. I really hope he's not getting a cold. He was sounding raspy earlier. He freaked when I blow dried his hair, but I didn't want him going to bed with a wet head, considering how cool it gets in his room.

****

think i'm going to take a shower (hoping to help me get sleepy, and make the rest of this headache go away) and go to bed. trying the baby bath wash experiment again. seemed to work well the first time, hopefully will again.

The Evil Overlord in Training has a favorite website.

Knee Bouncers

it's pretty awesome. All he has to do is hit buttons on the keyboard, and it makes music or plays games or counts or any number of things. And it doesn't matter which buttons on the keyboard he hits.

So far he really loves the music maker. It'll keep his attention for a good 15 minutes. Any of you with kids know how insane that idea is. It's like Yo Gabba Gabba for the computer.

i think I need a nap.

Evil Overlord in Training is down, and I'm barely keeping my eyes open. i feel like i've slept for crap the past few days.

my thumb is killing me, and i don't know if i should take anything for it or not. i know aspirin can thin your blood, but i don't know if advil will do the same thing or not. i think the cut has closed back up, but i'm not certain.

blah.
roguewords: (dr who scary brain amerzi)
guess what I managed to do yesterday.

that's right, Krissy has managed to hurt herself again. I sliced open my thumb trying to cut up an orange for the Evil Overlord in Training.

The knife is definitely sharp, I didn't feel it until the air hit it.

Then I freaked out.

...It's just a good thing the EOiT was in his high chair, that's all I'll say.

Also, he's getting pretty good at mimicry. Thankfully, not so good that he repeated exactly what I said when I hit my thumb on the cabinet. I just took what he said and said it a few times and made him giggle, so I don't think we'll be hearing that again. It rhymes with pluck, okay?

So today I've been working on finishing christmas ornaments, (thank you, [personal profile] lady_t_220, for mentioning the stapler.) I still want to make some ornaments with the bells I have, but it requires using my thumb! *sigh* Also the yarn I have is a lot bigger than the hole in the bell, making it difficult to get it together.

damnit, I will have a decorated christmas tree that is EOiT friendly!
roguewords: (xmen scott boy scout)
bloody HELL.

you think he would finally figure it out and leave me the fuck alone. But no.

Well guess what. I've blocked your ass on facebook. You're not going to bother me anymore.

And if you come up with some more of your bullshit like last time, where you introduced yourself as someone completely different to talk to me and find out what I was thinking and going through, I will be reporting you.

Estate sell went...pretty well. I now have a 1937 Singer sewing machine. I wasn't going to take it, because of lack of room, but I refuse to let it go to the dump. We still have an antique couch that needs to go somewhere. My cousin's mother in law has said if nothing else, it can be stored in her attic. Which is apparently as large as my house. 0_o

By the end of the day though, we were all just completely worn out. So the house hasn't really been cleaned, and I'll be going back sometime this week to do that. And by that point, I really think it was emotionally hitting us that we had no reason to go back there. My grandmother had lived in that house since the 70's. My parents and my sisters and I lived there for a few years. Valerie and I both had our bridal showers there. I have more Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter memories of being at Granny's house than anywhere else. And pretty much, we'll never be going there again.

*****

I was able to go by 2nd & Charles and actually do something with the books we had at the house. I made about 11 dollars, which was all gone by the time I got the slip saying I had it. Evil Overlord in Training has some new books, and I got an awesome bag. My mother in law has a ton of books that she's been trying to get rid of, I think I'll be taking them by the bag full. :) (And wow, I just looked at the website, and the Hoover store is actually only the second one. BUT IT'S AWESOME. SERIOUSLY. There's a free bin outside the store. and it's not set up like your normal 2nd hand bookstore.)

After that I went to get myself a new pair of tennis shoes. By the way --- shopping on my own with the Evil Overlord in Training is freakin impossible. Took WAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy longer than it should have.

Anyway, I finally settled on a pair of ryka assist xt. It's a cross training shoe, which I have no idea what that means. I only know when I put it on, my ankle stopped hurting for the first time in days. My feet were completely in love with these shoes. I walked around the store in them, following after the EOiT, and it was almost like being barefoot -- only I wasn't having any trouble walking. Yay! This is the first time I've spent this much for me on a pair of shoes. (my converses don't count, because those were an anniversary present.) :P

okay, I just went back and added a bunch to that second paragraph, so I think I need to go do something else. no, i'm probably not dealing as well with this as i act like i am.

Tomorrow is the estate sale. Spent a lot of today cleaning and chasing the Evil Overlord in Training.

And then playing with scotties. :D

***

Will hopefully be seeing Viv tomorrow as I have a HUGE box for her, along with two other smallish things...mostly knitting and tatting stuff. :D

I'm also planning on getting some new shoes tomorrow...my ankle has been killing me for the past day or so, and I just really want something with more support than my lovely Converse(s).

Alright, I need to get to bed, I've got to get up early. I just wish I could stop coughing.

Help out!
